🛑 Voith R 115 Hydrodynamic Retarder
The Voith R 115 is a standalone driveline hydrodynamic retarder fitted between the gearbox and drive axle on European trucks from MAN, Mercedes, DAF, and Volvo. Unlike Scania's integrated Intarder, the Voith R 115 is a bolt-on module that any truck manufacturer can specify. It provides up to 3,000 Nm of retarding torque through hydraulic coupling resistance and is cooled via the engine cooling circuit. Multiple truck OEMs use the same Voith R 115 physical unit, leading to a shared service and parts ecosystem across European truck workshops.
