Renault 4CV

Designed in secret during the German occupation of France, the 4CV emerged as post-war France's answer to the Volkswagen Beetle. Its rear-mounted water-cooled engine, unitary body, and independent suspension were genuinely modern. Over one million were built, saving Renault and reviving French motoring.
