🔧 Ducati Desmodromic Valve System
The Ducati Desmodromic valve actuation system uses positive mechanical closure of each valve (via a closing rocker arm) rather than relying on return springs. Designed by Fabio Taglioni in 1954 and first raced in 1956, it enables higher RPM without valve float and is the only production motorcycle system of its kind. Every Ducati from the 1971 750 GT to the 2024 Panigale V4S uses Desmodromic actuation — making it the signature shared feature across all nine decades of Ducati performance motorcycles.
