Aisin AW6 6-Speed Automatic

The Aisin AW 6-speed automatic (A960E / A761E / A960F family) is a widely shared transmission used across Toyota and Lexus vehicles, and supplied under contract to Volvo for the XC70/V70. Its torque converter lock-up strategy and adaptive shift logic made it one of the smoothest automatics of the 2000s era. The same physical casing is reused across platforms by adjusting gear ratios and valve body calibration.
