Scania 143M V8 500
The Scania 143M with the DS14 V8 engine was the king of the European road in the late 1980s — 500 hp from 14 litres, enough power to haul 44 tonnes through Alpine passes at highway speeds. Its "topline" high-roof sleeper gave stand-up accommodation, and the V8's distinctive howl made it instantly recognisable on the autobahn.
